⁵ So Moses the servant of the Lord died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the Lord,

⁵⁰ And die on the mountain which you go up, and be gathered to your people, as ^(A)Aaron your brother died in Mount Hor and was gathered to his people,

God Commissions Joshua

1 After the death of Moses the ^(A)servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' ^(B)assistant, ² “Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel.

³ For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. ⁴ (For every house is built by someone, but ^(A)the builder of all things is God.) ^5 (B)Now Moses was faithful in all God's house ^(C)as a servant, ^(D)to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, ⁶ but Christ is faithful over God's house as ^(E)a son. And ^(F)we are his house, if indeed we ^(G)hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.^[a]

³ And they sing ^(A)the song of Moses, ^(B)the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

Greeting

1 Simeon^[a] Peter, a servant^[b] and apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who have obtained ^(A)a faith of equal standing with ours ^(B)by the righteousness of our ^(C)God and Savior Jesus Christ:

²⁵ correcting his opponents ^(A)with gentleness. God ^(B)may perhaps grant them repentance ^(C)leading to a knowledge of the truth,

^35 (A)The slave does not remain in the house forever; ^(B)the son remains forever. ³⁶ So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

^4 (A)“Remember ^(B)the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and rules^[a] that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.
