⁸ “And when we passed beyond our brethren, the descendants of Esau who dwell in Seir, away from the road of the plain, away from ^(A)Elath and Ezion Geber, we ^(B)turned and passed by way of the Wilderness of Moab.

^26 (A)King Solomon also built a fleet of ships at ^(B)Ezion Geber, which is near ^[a]Elath on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

⁶ At that time Rezin king of Syria ^(A)captured ^[a]Elath for Syria, and drove the men of Judah from Elath. Then the ^[b]Edomites went to Elath, and dwell there to this day.

¹⁸ And they ^(A)went along through the wilderness and ^(B)bypassed the land of Edom and the land of Moab, came to the east side of the land of Moab, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon. But they did not enter the border of Moab, for the Arnon was the border of Moab.

²² He built ^(A)Elath^[a] and restored it to Judah, after ^[b]the king rested with his fathers.

The Previous Command to Enter Canaan

1 These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel ^(A)on this side of the Jordan in the wilderness, in the ^[a]plain opposite ^[b]Suph, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

³⁵ They departed from Abronah ^(A)and camped at Ezion Geber.

²⁰ Then he said, ^(A)“You shall not pass through.” So Edom came out against them with many men and with a strong hand. ²¹ Thus Edom ^(B)refused to give Israel passage through his territory; so Israel ^(C)turned away from him.
