¹³ And when you send a male slave^[a] out from you a free person, you shall not send him out empty-handed.

⁵ Then I will draw near to you for judgment; I will be swift to bear witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired workers in their wages, the widow, and the orphan, against those who thrust aside the alien and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.^(A)

4 ¹ Masters, treat your slaves justly and fairly, for you know that you also have a Master in heaven.

⁴² For they are my servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves are sold. ⁴³ You shall not rule over them with harshness but shall fear your God.^{(A) 44} As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves.

²¹ I will bring this people into such favor with the Egyptians that, when you go, you will not go empty-handed;^(A)

⁴² If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear^[a] of Isaac, had not been on my side, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. God saw my affliction and the labor of my hands and rebuked you last night.”^(A)
