⁸ In the morning his mind was troubled,^(A) so he sent for all the magicians^(B) and wise men of Egypt. Pharaoh told them his dreams, but no one could interpret them for him.^(C)

The Interpretation of the Dream

¹⁵ “I, Daniel, was troubled in spirit, and the visions that passed through my mind disturbed me.^(A)

²⁸ “This is the end of the matter. I, Daniel, was deeply troubled^(A) by my thoughts,^(B) and my face turned pale,^(C) but I kept the matter to myself.”

²⁷ I, Daniel, was worn out. I lay exhausted^(A) for several days. Then I got up and went about the king’s business.^(B) I was appalled^(C) by the vision; it was beyond understanding.

¹⁶ Then one who looked like a man^[a] touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak.^(A) I said to the one standing before me, “I am overcome with anguish^(B) because of the vision, my lord, and I feel very weak. ¹⁷ How can I, your servant, talk with you, my lord? My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.”^(C)
