²⁷For you have shown justice in all you have done for us;
    all your deeds are true, all your ways are right,
    and all your judgments are correct.
²⁸You have made proper judgments
    in all that you have brought upon us
    and upon Jerusalem, the holy city of our ancestors.
By a judgment, you have done all this
    because of our sins.
²⁹“For we have sinned and broken your law
    in our rebellion against you;
    we have fallen short in every way.

Daniel 3:27-29

New International Version

²⁷and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers^(A) crowded around them.^(B) They saw that the fire^(C) had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.

²⁸Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel^(D) and rescued^(E) his servants! They trusted^(F) in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.^(G) ²⁹Therefore I decree^(H) that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble,^(I) for no other god can save^(J) in this way.”

²⁷And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king’s counselors gathered together, and they saw these men ^(A)on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.

²⁸Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His ^(B)Angel^[a] and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God! ²⁹^(C)Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the ^(D)God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be ^(E)cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; ^(F)because there is no other God who can deliver like this.”
