On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing (A)on the bank of the great river ((B)that is, the Tigris) (C)I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, (D)a man clothed in linen, (E)with a belt of fine (F)gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like (G)beryl, his face (H)like the appearance of lightning, (I)his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and (J)legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and (K)the sound of his words like the sound of a multitude. (L)And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision, but a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves. So I was left alone and saw this great vision, and (M)no strength was left in me. My radiant appearance was fearfully changed,[a] (N)and I retained no strength. Then I heard the sound of his words, (O)and as I heard the sound of his words, I fell on my face in deep sleep (P)with my face to the ground.

10 And behold, (Q)a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 And he said to me, “O Daniel, (R)man greatly loved, (S)understand the words that I speak to you, and (T)stand upright, for (U)now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. 12 Then he said to me, (V)“Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you (W)set your heart to understand and (X)humbled yourself before your God, (Y)your words have been heard, (Z)and I have come because of your words. 13 (AA)The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me (AB)twenty-one days, but (AC)Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, 14 (AD)and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people (AE)in the latter days. For (AF)the vision is for days yet to come.”

15 When he had spoken to me according to these words, (AG)I turned my face toward the ground (AH)and was mute. 16 And behold, (AI)one in the likeness of the children of man (AJ)touched my lips. Then I opened my mouth and spoke. I said to him who stood before me, “O my lord, by reason of the vision pains have come upon me, and (AK)I retain no strength. 17 How can my lord's servant talk with my lord? For now no strength remains in me, and no breath is left in me.”

18 Again (AL)one having the appearance of a man (AM)touched me and strengthened me. 19 And he said, (AN)“O man greatly loved, (AO)fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me.” 20 Then he said, “Do you know why I have come to you? But now I will return to fight against the (AP)prince of Persia; and when I go out, behold, the prince of (AQ)Greece will come. 21 But I will tell you (AR)what is inscribed in the book of truth: there is none who contends by my side against these except (AS)Michael, your prince.

  1. Daniel 10:8 Hebrew My splendor was changed to ruin

But you, Daniel, (A)shut up the words and (B)seal the book, until (C)the time of the end. (D)Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”

Then I, Daniel, looked, and behold, two others stood, one on (E)this bank of the stream and one on that bank of the stream. And someone said to (F)the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream,[a] (G)“How long shall it be till the end of these wonders?” And I heard (H)the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream; (I)he raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and (J)swore by him who lives forever that it would be for a (K)time, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of (L)the power of (M)the holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished. I heard, (N)but I did not understand. Then I said, “O my lord, what shall be the outcome of these things?” He said, (O)“Go your way, Daniel, (P)for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 (Q)Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but (R)the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, (S)but those who are wise shall understand. 11 And from the time that (T)the regular burnt offering is taken away and (U)the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days. 12 (V)Blessed is he who waits and arrives at the 1,335 days. 13 (W)But go your way till the end. (X)And you shall rest and shall stand in your allotted place at (Y)the end of the days.”
