Daniel 1:5-7

⁵And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might ^(A)serve before the king. ⁶Now from among those of the sons of Judah were Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. ⁷^(B)To them the chief of the eunuchs gave names: ^(C)he gave Daniel the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego.

⁵The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine^(A) from the king’s table.^(B) They were to be trained for three years,^(C) and after that they were to enter the king’s service.^(D)

⁶Among those who were chosen were some from Judah: Daniel,^(E) Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.^(F) ⁷The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar;^(G) to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.^(H)

They were to be educated for ^(C)three years, and at the end of that time they were to ^(D)stand before the king. ⁶Among these were ^(E)Daniel, ^(F)Hananiah, ^(G)Mishael, and ^(H)Azariah of the tribe of Judah. ⁷And ^(I)the chief of the eunuchs ^(J)gave them names: ^(K)Daniel he called Belteshazzar, Hananiah he called Shadrach, Mishael he called Meshach, and Azariah he called Abednego.
