^10 (A)and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by ^(B)his servants the prophets.

^6 (A)We have not listened to ^(B)your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to ^(C)our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

¹² because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor obeyed.

^13 (A)You came down on Mount Sinai ^(B)and spoke with them from heaven and gave them ^(C)right rules and true laws, good statutes and commandments, ^14 (D)and you made known to them your holy Sabbath and commanded them commandments and statutes and a law by Moses your servant. ^15 (E)You gave them bread from heaven for their hunger and ^(F)brought water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and you ^(G)told them to go in to possess the land that you had sworn to give them.

¹⁶ “But they and our fathers ^(H)acted presumptuously and stiffened their neck and did not obey your commandments. ¹⁷ They refused to obey ^(I)and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them, but they stiffened their neck and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt.^[a] But you are a God ready to forgive, ^(J)gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and did not forsake them.

The Supremacy of God's Son

1 Long ago, at many times and ^(A)in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,

¹⁰ “And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken your commandments, ¹¹ which you commanded by your servants the prophets, saying, ‘The land that you are entering, to take possession of it, is a land impure with the impurity of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations that have filled it from end to end with ^(A)their uncleanness.

¹³ Yet the Lord ^(A)warned Israel and Judah ^(B)by every prophet ^(C)and every seer, saying, ^(D)“Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

¹⁴ But they would not listen, ^(E)but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God. ¹⁵ They despised his statutes ^(F)and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after ^(G)false idols ^(H)and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the ^(I)Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them.
