²⁰ and the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn which came up, before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes and a mouth which spoke ^[a]pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows.

²³ “Thus he said:

⁸ I was considering the horns, and ^(A)there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes ^(B)of a man, ^(C)and a mouth speaking ^[a]pompous words.

³⁶ “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall ^(A)exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. ³⁷ He shall regard neither the ^[a]God of his fathers nor the desire of women, ^(B)nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all.

^9 (A)And out of one of them came a little horn which grew exceedingly great toward the south, ^(B)toward the east, and toward the ^(C)Glorious Land. ^10 (D)And it grew up to ^(E)the host of heaven; and ^(F)it cast down some of the host and some of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. ^11 (G)He even exalted himself as high as ^(H)the Prince of the host; ^(I)and by him ^(J)the daily sacrifices were taken away, and the place of ^[a]His sanctuary was cast down.

¹¹ “I watched then because of the sound of the ^[a]pompous words which the horn was speaking; ^(A)I watched till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed and given to the burning flame.
