⁸ And he shall also carry their gods captive to Egypt, with their ^[a]princes and their precious articles of silver and gold; and he shall continue more years than the king of the North.

Dead Idols and the Living God

¹⁹ and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were ^(A)not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them.

^12 [a]I will kindle a fire in the houses of ^(A)the gods of Egypt, and he shall burn them and carry them away captive. And he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd puts on his garment, and he shall go out from there in peace. ¹³ He shall also break the sacred pillars of ^[b]Beth Shemesh that are in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians he shall burn with fire.” ’ ”

³ I ate no ^[a]pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

² And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with ^(A)some of the articles of ^[a]the house of God, which he carried ^(B)into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; ^(C)and he brought the articles into the treasure house of his god.
