⁴⁴ But reports from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will set out in a great rage to destroy and annihilate many.

¹⁹ Then I saw the beast^(A) and the kings of the earth^(B) and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse^(C) and his army. ²⁰ But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet^(D) who had performed the signs^(E) on its behalf.^(F) With these signs he had deluded^(G) those who had received the mark of the beast^(H) and worshiped its image.^(I) The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake^(J) of burning sulfur.^{(K) 21} The rest were killed with the sword^(L) coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse,^(M) and all the birds^(N) gorged themselves on their flesh.

¹³ They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast.^(A)

¹² The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates,^(A) and its water was dried up to prepare the way^(B) for the kings from the East.^(C)

³⁰ Ships of the western coastlands^(A) will oppose him, and he will lose heart.^(B) Then he will turn back and vent his fury^(C) against the holy covenant. He will return and show favor to those who forsake the holy covenant.

¹¹ “Then the king of the South will march out in a rage and fight against the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but it will be defeated.^(A)

⁹ You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm;^(A) you will be like a cloud^(B) covering the land.^(C)

¹⁰ “‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind^(D) and you will devise an evil scheme.^{(E) 11} You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people^(F)—all of them living without walls and without gates and bars.^{(G) 12} I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land.^[a]”
