¹² “Please test your servants for ten days. Let us be given vegetables to eat and water to drink.

² Some believe in eating anything, while the weak eat only vegetables.^(A)

¹⁶ So the guard continued to withdraw their royal rations and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables.

²⁹ God said, “See, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is upon the face of all the earth and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.^{(A) 30} And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the air and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.^(B)

³ He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feeding you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted, in order to make you understand that one does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.^(A)
