5 And they journeyed; and the chittat Elohim (terror of G-d) was upon the cities that were around them, and they did not pursue after the Bnei Ya’akov.
6 So Ya’akov came to Luz, which is in Eretz Kena’an, that is, Beit-El, he and kol haAm that were with him.
7 And he built there a Mizbe’ach, and called the makom (place) El Beit-El; because there HaElohim appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of achiv.

Genesis 35:5-7
New International Version
5 Then they set out, and the terror of God(A) fell on the towns all around them so that no one pursued them.(B)
6 Jacob and all the people with him came to Luz(C) (that is, Bethel) in the land of Canaan.(D) 7 There he built an altar,(E) and he called the place El Bethel,[a](F) because it was there that God revealed himself to him(G) when he was fleeing from his brother.(H)

6 Slutligen kom Jakob och alla han hade med sig fram till Lus, det nuvarande Betel, i Kanaans land. 7 Där reste Jakob ett altare som han kallade El Betel[a]. Det var ju i Betel som Gud hade visat sig för honom när han flydde från sin bror.
