1 ^(A)This book was written by Baruch son of Neraiah, grandson of Mahseiah, and a descendant of Zedekiah, Hasadiah, and Hilkiah. It was written in Babylon ² on the seventh day of the month^[a] in the fifth year after the Babylonians captured Jerusalem and burned it down.
