7 Pe cât(A) s-a slăvit pe sine însăşi şi s-a desfătat în risipă, pe atât daţi-i chin şi tânguire! Pentru că zice în inima ei: ‘Şed ca împărăteasă(B), nu sunt văduvă şi nu voi şti ce este tânguirea!’ 8 Tocmai pentru aceea într-o(C) singură zi vor veni urgiile ei: moartea, tânguirea şi foametea. Şi va fi arsă de tot în(D) foc, pentru că(E) Domnul Dumnezeu, care a judecat-o, este tare. 9 Şi împăraţii(F) pământului, care au curvit şi s-au dezmierdat în risipă cu ea, când(G) vor vedea fumul arderii ei, o(H) vor plânge şi o vor boci.

7 Give her as much torment and grief
as the glory and luxury she gave herself.(A)
In her heart she boasts,
‘I sit enthroned as queen.
I am not a widow;[a]
I will never mourn.’(B)
8 Therefore in one day(C) her plagues will overtake her:
death, mourning and famine.
She will be consumed by fire,(D)
for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.

9 “When the kings of the earth who committed adultery with her(E) and shared her luxury(F) see the smoke of her burning,(G) they will weep and mourn over her.(H)
