3 And (A)the songs of the temple
Shall be wailing in that day,”
Says the Lord God—
“Many dead bodies everywhere,
(B)They shall be thrown out in silence.”
4 Hear this, you who [a]swallow up the needy,
And make the poor of the land fail,
5 Saying:
“When will the New Moon be past,
That we may sell grain?
And (C)the Sabbath,
That we may [b]trade wheat?
(D)Making the ephah small and the shekel large,
Falsifying the scales by (E)deceit,

“They are thrown everywhere!”

4 Hear this, (E)you who trample on the needy
and bring the poor of the land to an end,
5 saying, “When will (F)the new moon be over,
that we may sell grain?
And (G)the Sabbath,
that we may offer wheat for sale,
that we may make (H)the ephah small and the shekel[c] great
and deal deceitfully with false balances,
