⁷De trampar ner de svaga och driver undan de hjälplösa.Far och son ligger med samma tjänsteflicka och vanärar mitt heliga namn.

⁸Vid högtiderna styr de ut sig i kläder som de behållit i pant trots att detta är förbjudet, och i mitt eget tempel bär de fram offer av vin som de också orättfärdigt lagt beslag på.

⁹Tänk samtidigt på allt jag har gjort för dem! Jag fördrev amoreerna åt dem, amoreerna som var ståtliga som cedrar och starka som ekar! Men jag högg ner deras frukt och ryckte upp dem med rötterna.

⁷They trample on the heads of the poor
    as on the dust of the ground
    and deny justice to the oppressed.
Father and son use the same girl
    and so profane my holy name.^(A)
⁸They lie down beside every altar
    on garments taken in pledge.^(B)
In the house of their god
    they drink wine^(C) taken as fines.^(D)

⁹“Yet I destroyed the Amorites^(E) before them,
    though they were tall^(F) as the cedars
    and strong as the oaks.^(G)
I destroyed their fruit above
    and their roots^(H) below.

    and ^(B)turn aside the way of the afflicted;
^(C)a man and his father go in to the same girl,
    so that my holy name is profaned;
⁸they lay themselves down beside every altar
    on garments ^(D)taken in pledge,
and in the house of their God they drink
    the wine of those who have been fined.

⁹“Yet ^(E)it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them,
    ^(F)whose height was like the height of the cedars
    and who was as strong as the oaks;
^(G)I destroyed his fruit above
    and his roots beneath.
