¹⁵ When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit,^(A)

¹⁶ because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them;^(A) they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.^(B)

¹⁵ “As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on^(A) them as he had come on us at the beginning.^(B)

⁸ God, who knows the heart,^(A) showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them,^(B) just as he did to us.

⁶ When Paul placed his hands on them,^(A) the Holy Spirit came on them,^(B) and they spoke in tongues^[a](C) and prophesied.

¹⁵ for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink,^(A) and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit^(B) even before he is born.^(C)
