² And when they heard that he was addressing them in the ^[a](A)Hebrew dialect, they became even more quiet; and he *said,

³ “^(B)I am ^(C)a Jew, born in ^(D)Tarsus of ^(E)Cilicia, but brought up in this city, educated ^[b]under ^(F)Gamaliel, ^[c](G)strictly according to the Law of our fathers, being zealous for God just as ^(H)you all are today. ^4 (I)I persecuted this ^(J)Way to the death, binding and putting both men and women into prisons,
