⁵ And now send men to Joppa and bring one Simon who is called Peter.

⁹ And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”

⁷ And after there had been much ^(A)debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, ^(B)that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear ^(C)the word of ^(D)the gospel and believe.

³² Send therefore to Joppa and ask for Simon who is called Peter. He is lodging in the house of Simon, a tanner, by the sea.’

³⁸ Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, ^(A)“Please come to us without delay.”

Dorcas Restored to Life

³⁶ Now there was in ^(A)Joppa a disciple named Tabitha, which, translated, means Dorcas.^[a] She was full of ^(B)good works and acts of charity.

⁴² He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of ^(A)John. You shall be called ^(B)Cephas” (which means ^(C)Peter^[a]).
