⁴ But the people of the city ^(A)were divided; ^(B)some sided with the Jews and some with the apostles.

⁴ And ^(A)some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did ^(B)a great many of the devout ^(C)Greeks and not a few of the leading women. ^5 (D)But the Jews^{[a] (E)}were jealous, and taking ^(F)some wicked men of the rabble, they formed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd.

^9 (A)But when some became stubborn and ^(B)continued in unbelief, speaking evil of ^(C)the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus.^[a]

⁷ And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the assembly was divided.
