Bondad de David hacia Mefiboset
9 Entonces David dijo: «¿Hay todavía alguien que haya quedado de la casa de Saúl, para que yo le muestre bondad por amor a Jonatán(A)?». 2 Y había un siervo de la casa de Saúl que se llamaba Siba, y lo llamaron ante David. Y el rey le dijo: «¿Eres tú Siba?». «Su servidor(B)», respondió él. 3 Y el rey le preguntó: «¿No queda aún alguien de la casa de Saúl a quien yo pueda mostrar la bondad de Dios(C)?». Y Siba respondió al rey: «Aún queda un hijo de Jonatán lisiado de ambos pies(D)». 4 «¿Dónde está él?», le preguntó el rey. Y Siba respondió al rey: «Está en casa de Maquir, hijo de Amiel, en Lodebar(E)».
5 Entonces el rey David mandó traerlo de la casa de Maquir, hijo de Amiel, de Lodebar. 6 Y Mefiboset, hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, vino a David, y cayendo sobre su rostro, se postró(F). Y David dijo: «Mefiboset». «Su siervo», respondió él. 7 David le dijo: «No temas, porque ciertamente te mostraré bondad por amor a tu padre Jonatán(G), y te devolveré toda la tierra[a](H) de tu abuelo[b] Saúl; y tú comerás[c] siempre a mi mesa(I)». 8 Él se postró de nuevo, y dijo: «¿Quién es su siervo, para que tome en cuenta a un perro muerto como yo(J)?».
9 Entonces el rey llamó a Siba, siervo de Saúl, y le dijo: «Todo lo que pertenecía a Saúl y a su casa, lo he dado al nieto[d] de tu señor(K). 10 Y tú, tus hijos y tus siervos cultivarán la tierra para él, y le llevarás los frutos para que el nieto[e] de tu señor tenga alimento. Sin embargo, Mefiboset, nieto[f] de tu señor, comerá[g] siempre a mi mesa(L)». Siba tenía quince hijos y veinte siervos. 11 Respondió Siba al rey: «Conforme a todo lo que mi señor el rey mande a su siervo, así hará su siervo». Y Mefiboset comió a la mesa de David[h] como uno de los hijos del rey(M). 12 Mefiboset tenía un hijo pequeño que se llamaba Micaía. Todos los que moraban en la casa de Siba eran siervos de Mefiboset. 13 Pero Mefiboset moraba en Jerusalén, porque siempre comía a la mesa del rey(N). Estaba lisiado de ambos pies(O).

9 El rey David averiguó si había alguien de la familia de Saúl a quien pudiera beneficiar en memoria de Jonatán 2 y, como la familia de Saúl había tenido un administrador que se llamaba Siba, mandaron por él. Cuando Siba se presentó ante el rey David, este preguntó:
—¿Tú eres Siba?
—A sus órdenes —respondió.
3 —¿No queda nadie de la familia de Saúl a quien yo pueda beneficiar en el nombre de Dios? —volvió a preguntar el rey.
—Sí, todavía le queda a Jonatán un hijo que está tullido de ambos pies —le respondió Siba al rey.
4 —¿Y dónde está?
—En Lo Debar; vive en casa de Maquir, hijo de Amiel.
5 Entonces el rey David mandó a buscarlo a casa de Maquir, hijo de Amiel, en Lo Debar.
6 Cuando Mefiboset, que era hijo de Jonatán y nieto de Saúl, estuvo en presencia de David, se inclinó ante él rostro en tierra.
—¿Tú eres Mefiboset? —preguntó David.
—A sus órdenes —respondió él.
7 —No temas, pues en memoria de tu padre Jonatán he decidido beneficiarte. Voy a devolverte todas las tierras que pertenecían a tu abuelo Saúl y de ahora en adelante te sentarás a mi mesa.
8 Mefiboset se postró y dijo:
—¿Y quién es este siervo suyo para que usted se fije en él? ¡Si no valgo más que un perro muerto!
9 Pero David llamó a Siba, el administrador de Saúl, y dijo:
—Todo lo que pertenecía a tu amo Saúl y a su familia se lo entrego a su nieto Mefiboset. 10 Te ordeno que cultives para él la tierra y guardes la cosecha para el sustento de su casa. Que te ayuden tus quince hijos y tus veinte criados. En cuanto al nieto de tu amo, siempre comerá en mi mesa.
11 —Tu servidor hará todo lo que mi señor el rey me ordene —respondió Siba.
A partir de ese día Mefiboset se sentó a la mesa de David[a] como uno más de los hijos del rey.
12 Toda la familia de Siba estaba al servicio de Mefiboset, quien tenía un hijo pequeño llamado Micaías. 13 Tullido de ambos pies, Mefiboset vivía en Jerusalén, pues siempre se sentaba a la mesa del rey.

9 David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”(A)
2 Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba.(B) They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
“At your service,” he replied.
3 The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?”
Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan;(C) he is lame(D) in both feet.”
4 “Where is he?” the king asked.
Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir(E) son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.”
5 So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel.
6 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.(F)
David said, “Mephibosheth!”
“At your service,” he replied.
7 “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan.(G) I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.(H)”
8 Mephibosheth(I) bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog(J) like me?”
9 Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s steward, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family. 10 You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson(K) may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “Your servant will do whatever my lord the king commands his servant to do.” So Mephibosheth ate at David’s[a] table like one of the king’s sons.(L)
12 Mephibosheth had a young son named Mika, and all the members of Ziba’s household were servants of Mephibosheth.(M) 13 And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet.

9 Now David said, “Is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul, that I may (A)show him [a]kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
2 And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was (B)Ziba. So when they had called him to David, the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?”
He said, “At your service!”
3 Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show (C)the kindness of God?”
And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is (D)lame in his feet.”
4 So the king said to him, “Where is he?”
And Ziba said to the king, “Indeed he is in the house of (E)Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”
5 Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.
6 Now when (F)Mephibosheth[b] the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell on his face and prostrated himself. Then David said, “Mephibosheth?”
And he answered, “Here is your servant!”
7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
8 Then he bowed himself, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look upon such (G)a dead dog as I?”
9 And the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, (H)“I have given to your master’s son all that belonged to Saul and to all his house. 10 You therefore, and your sons and your servants, shall work the land for him, and you shall bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have food to eat. But Mephibosheth your master’s son (I)shall eat bread at my table always.” Now Ziba had (J)fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11 Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant, so will your servant do.”
“As for Mephibosheth,” said the king, “he shall eat at [c]my table like one of the king’s sons.” 12 Mephibosheth had a young son (K)whose name was Micha. And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants of Mephibosheth. 13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem, (L)for he ate continually at the king’s table. And he (M)was lame in both his feet.
