Promesa del Señor a David

7 (A)Sucedió que cuando el rey ya moraba en su casa, y el Señor le había dado descanso de sus enemigos por todos lados, 2 el rey dijo al profeta Natán(B): Mira, yo habito en una casa de cedro(C), pero el arca de Dios mora en medio de cortinas(D). 3 Entonces Natán dijo al rey: Ve, haz todo lo que está en tu corazón(E), porque el Señor está contigo. 4 Y sucedió que esa misma noche la palabra del Señor vino a Natán, diciendo: 5 Ve y di a mi siervo David: «Así dice el Señor: “¿Eres tú el que me va a edificar una casa para morar en ella(F)? 6 Pues no he morado en una casa desde el día en que saqué de Egipto a los hijos de Israel hasta hoy(G), sino que he andado errante en una tienda, en un tabernáculo[a](H). 7 Dondequiera que he ido con todos los hijos de Israel(I), ¿hablé palabra a alguna de las tribus de Israel, a la cual haya ordenado que pastoreara a mi pueblo Israel(J), diciendo: ‘¿Por qué no me habéis edificado una casa de cedro?’?”». 8 Ahora pues, así dirás a mi siervo David: «Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos: “Yo te tomé del pastizal, de seguir las ovejas(K), para que fueras príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel(L). 9 Y he estado contigo por dondequiera que has ido(M) y he exterminado[b] a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti(N), y haré de ti un gran nombre como el nombre de los grandes que hay en la tierra. 10 Asignaré también un lugar para mi pueblo Israel, y lo plantaré allí a fin de que habite en su propio lugar y no sea perturbado de nuevo(O), ni los aflijan más los malvados[c] como antes(P), 11 y como desde el día en que ordené que hubiera jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel(Q); te daré reposo de todos tus enemigos(R), y el Señor también te hace saber que el Señor te edificará una casa[d](S). 12 Cuando tus días se cumplan y reposes con tus padres(T), levantaré a tu descendiente[e] después de ti, el cual saldrá de tus entrañas, y estableceré su reino(U). 13 El edificará casa a mi nombre(V), y yo estableceré el trono de su reino para siempre(W). 14 Yo seré padre para él y él será hijo para mí(X). Cuando cometa iniquidad, lo corregiré con vara de hombres y con azotes de hijos de hombres(Y), 15 pero mi misericordia no se apartará de él, como la aparté de Saúl(Z) a quien quité de delante de ti. 16 Tu casa y tu reino permanecerán para siempre delante de mí[f]; tu trono será establecido para siempre(AA)”». 17 Conforme a todas estas palabras y conforme a toda esta visión, así habló Natán a David.

18 Entonces el rey David entró y se sentó delante del Señor y dijo: ¿Quién soy yo, oh Señor Dios[g](AB), y qué es mi casa para que me hayas traído hasta aquí? 19 Y aun esto fue insignificante ante tus ojos, oh Señor Dios, pues también has hablado de la casa de tu siervo concerniente a un futuro lejano(AC). Y esta es la ley de los hombres[h], oh Señor Dios(AD). 20 ¿Y qué más podría decirte David? Pues tú conoces a tu siervo, oh Señor Dios(AE). 21 A causa de tu palabra, conforme a tu propio corazón, tú has hecho toda esta grandeza, para que lo sepa tu siervo(AF). 22 Oh Señor Dios, por eso tú eres grande; pues no hay nadie como tú(AG), ni hay Dios fuera de ti(AH), conforme a todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos(AI). 23 ¿Y qué otra nación en la tierra es como tu pueblo Israel, al cual viniste[i] a redimir para ti[j] como pueblo, a fin de darte[k] un nombre(AJ), y hacer grandes cosas a su favor y cosas portentosas(AK) para tu tierra, ante tu pueblo que rescataste para ti de Egipto(AL), de naciones y de sus dioses? 24 Pues tú has establecido para ti a tu pueblo Israel(AM) como pueblo tuyo para siempre, y tú, Señor, has venido a ser su Dios(AN). 25 Y ahora, oh Señor Dios, confirma para siempre la palabra que has hablado acerca de tu siervo y acerca de su casa, y haz según has hablado. 26 Y sea engrandecido tu nombre para siempre, al decirse: «El Señor de los ejércitos es Dios sobre Israel»; y que la casa de tu siervo David sea establecida delante de ti(AO). 27 Porque tú, oh Señor de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, has revelado a[l] tu siervo, diciendo: «Yo te edificaré casa»; por tanto, tu siervo ha hallado ánimo para elevar[m] esta oración a ti(AP). 28 Ahora pues, oh Señor Dios, tú eres Dios, tus palabras son verdad y tú has prometido[n] este bien a tu siervo(AQ). 29 Y ahora, ten a bien bendecir la casa de tu siervo, a fin de que permanezca[o] para siempre delante de ti; porque tú, oh Señor Dios, has hablado y con tu bendición será bendita para siempre la casa de tu siervo(AR).

God’s Covenant with David(A)

7 Now it came to pass (B)when the king was dwelling in his house, and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies all around, 2 that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in (C)a house of cedar, (D)but the ark of God dwells inside tent (E)curtains.”

3 Then Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your (F)heart, for the Lord is with you.”

4 But it happened that night that the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying, 5 “Go and tell My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord: (G)“Would you build a house for Me to dwell in? 6 For I have not dwelt in a house (H)since the time that I brought the children of Israel up from Egypt, even to this day, but have moved about in (I)a tent and in a tabernacle. 7 Wherever I have (J)moved about with all the children of Israel, have I ever spoken a word to anyone from the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded (K)to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’ ” ’ 8 Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: (L)“I took you from the sheepfold, from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel. 9 And (M)I have been with you wherever you have gone, (N)and have [a]cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. 10 Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will (O)plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more; (P)nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously, 11 (Q)since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel, and have caused you to rest from all your enemies. Also the Lord [b]tells you (R)that He will make you a [c]house.

12 (S)“When your days are fulfilled and you (T)rest with your fathers, (U)I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 (V)He shall build a house for My name, and I will (W)establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 (X)I will be his Father, and he shall be (Y)My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the [d]blows of the sons of men. 15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, (Z)as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. 16 And (AA)your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before [e]you. Your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”

17 According to all these words and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

David’s Thanksgiving to God(AB)

18 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord; and he said: (AC)“Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far? 19 And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord God; and You have also spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come. (AD)Is this the manner of man, O Lord God? 20 Now what more can David say to You? For You, Lord God, (AE)know Your servant. 21 For Your word’s sake, and according to Your own heart, You have done all these great things, to make Your servant know them. 22 Therefore (AF)You are great, [f]O Lord God. For (AG)there is none like You, nor is there any God besides You, according to all that we have heard with our (AH)ears. 23 And who is like Your people, like Israel, (AI)the one nation on the earth whom God went to redeem for Himself as a people, to make for Himself a name—and to do for Yourself great and awesome deeds for Your land—before (AJ)Your people whom You redeemed for Yourself from Egypt, the nations, and their gods? 24 For (AK)You have made Your people Israel Your very own people forever; (AL)and You, Lord, have become their God.

25 “Now, O Lord God, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, establish it forever and do as You have said. 26 So let Your name be magnified forever, saying, ‘The Lord of hosts is the God over Israel.’ And let the house of Your servant David be established before You. 27 For You, O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, have revealed this to Your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore Your servant has found it in his heart to pray this prayer to You.

28 “And now, O Lord God, You are God, and (AM)Your words are true, and You have promised this goodness to Your servant. 29 Now therefore, let it please You to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue before You forever; for You, O Lord God, have spoken it, and with Your blessing let the house of Your servant be blessed (AN)forever.”
