^12 (A)When your days are finished and you ^[a](B)lie down with your fathers, ^(C)I will raise up your ^[b]descendant after you, who will come from ^[c]you, and I will establish his kingdom. ^13 (D)He shall build a house for My name, and ^(E)I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. ^14 (F)I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; ^(G)when he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and with strokes of sons of mankind, ¹⁵ but My favor shall not depart from him, ^(H)as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from you. ^16 (I)Your house and your kingdom shall endure before ^[d]Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.”’” ¹⁷ In accordance with all these words and all of this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

¹³ Yet ^(A)I will not tear away all the kingdom, but ^(B)I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of My servant David, and ^(C)for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”

³⁶ But ^(A)to his son I will give one tribe, ^(B)so that My servant David may always have a lamp before Me in Jerusalem, ^(C)the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name.
