24 Regele însă i-a zis lui Aravna:
– Nu aşa! Vreau s-o cumpăr de la tine, plătindu-ţi! Nu voi aduce Domnului meu arderi de tot care să nu mă coste nimic!
Astfel, David a cumpărat aria şi boii cu cincizeci de şecheli de argint.[a] 25 Apoi David a zidit acolo un altar Domnului şi I-a adus arderi de tot şi jertfe de pace[b]. Domnul a răspuns astfel rugăciunilor făcute pentru ţară, iar urgia care era peste Israel a fost oprită.

24 But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”(A)
So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels[a](B) of silver for them. 25 David built an altar(C) to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the Lord answered his prayer(D) in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
