3 ‘Where is your master’s grandson? ’ the king asked.
‘Why, he’s staying in Jerusalem,’ Ziba replied to the king, ‘for he said, “Today, the house of Israel will restore my grandfather’s kingdom to me.” ’(A)
4 The king said to Ziba, ‘All that belongs to Mephibosheth is now yours! ’(B)
‘I bow before you,’ Ziba said. ‘May I find favour with you, my lord the king! ’

5 When King David got to Bahurim, a man belonging to the family of the house of Saul was just coming out.(C) His name was Shimei son of Gera,(D) and he was yelling curses as he approached.

3 The king then asked, “Where is your master’s grandson?”(A)
Ziba(B) said to him, “He is staying in Jerusalem, because he thinks, ‘Today the Israelites will restore to me my grandfather’s kingdom.’”
4 Then the king said to Ziba, “All that belonged to Mephibosheth(C) is now yours.”
“I humbly bow,” Ziba said. “May I find favor in your eyes, my lord the king.”

5 As King David approached Bahurim,(D) a man from the same clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei(E) son of Gera, and he cursed(F) as he came out.

4 Then said the king to Ziba, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto Mephibosheth. And Ziba said, I humbly beseech thee that I may find grace in thy sight, my lord, O king.
5 And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, thence came out a man of the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera: he came forth, and cursed still as he came.
