²⁴ As soon as you hear the sound^(A) of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the Lord has gone out in front^(B) of you to strike the Philistine army.”

⁶ for the Lord had caused the Arameans to hear the sound^(A) of chariots and horses and a great army, so that they said to one another, “Look, the king of Israel has hired^(B) the Hittite^(C) and Egyptian kings to attack us!”

¹⁴ Then Deborah said to Barak, “Go! This is the day the Lord has given Sisera into your hands.^(A) Has not the Lord gone ahead^(B) of you?” So Barak went down Mount Tabor, with ten thousand men following him.

¹⁵ When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he bowed down and worshiped.^(A) He returned to the camp of Israel and called out, “Get up! The Lord has given the Midianite camp into your hands.”^(B)

⁹ If they say to us, ‘Wait there until we come to you,’ we will stay where we are and not go up to them. ¹⁰ But if they say, ‘Come up to us,’ we will climb up, because that will be our sign^(A) that the Lord has given them into our hands.^(B)”

¹¹ So both of them showed themselves to the Philistine outpost. “Look!” said the Philistines. “The Hebrews^(C) are crawling out of the holes they were hiding^(D) in.” ¹² The men of the outpost shouted to Jonathan and his armor-bearer, “Come up to us and we’ll teach you a lesson.^(E)”

So Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, “Climb up after me; the Lord has given them into the hand^(F) of Israel.”

Do Everything Without Grumbling

¹² Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,^(B)
