¹⁵ Then they came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maachah; and they ^(A)cast up a siege mound against the city, and it stood by the rampart. And all the people who were with Joab battered the wall to throw it down.

³² “Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria:

²⁴ ‘Look, the siege mounds! They have come to the city to take it; and the city has been given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of ^(A)the sword and famine and pestilence. What You have spoken has happened; there You see it!

⁴³ For days will come upon you when your enemies will ^(A)build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,

^2 (A)Lay siege against it, build a ^(B)siege wall against it, and heap up a mound against it; set camps against it also, and place battering rams against it all around.

⁴ “For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city and the houses of the kings of Judah, which have been pulled down to fortify against ^(A)the siege mounds and the sword:

³³ “Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria:

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel, ^[a]Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria ^(A)came and took ^(B)Ijon, Abel Beth Maachah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he ^(C)carried them captive to Assyria.

²⁰ So Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, and ^(A)sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. He attacked ^(B)Ijon, ^(C)Dan, ^(D)Abel Beth Maachah, and all Chinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
