Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel (A)complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. And the children of Israel said to them, (B)“Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, (C)when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain (D)bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather [a]a certain quota every day, that I may (E)test them, whether they will (F)walk in My law or not.

Then the whole community of Israelites began complaining again. They complained to Moses and Aaron in the desert. They said, “It would have been better if the Lord had just killed us in the land of Egypt. At least there we had plenty to eat. We had all the food we needed. But now you have brought us out here into this desert to make us all die from hunger.”

Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will cause food to fall from the sky. This food will be for you to eat. Every day the people should go out and gather the food they need that day. I will do this to see if they will do what I tell them.
