² The Lord sent against him ^(A)bands of Chaldeans, ^(B)bands of Arameans, ^(C)bands of Moabites, and bands of Ammonites. So He sent them against Judah to destroy it, ^(D)according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken through His servants the prophets.

¹⁷ While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The ^(A)Chaldeans formed three bands and made a raid on the camels and took them and ^[a]slew the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”

¹³ Behold, the land of the Chaldeans—this is the people which was not; ^(A)Assyria appointed it for ^(B)desert creatures—they erected their siege towers, they stripped its palaces, ^(C)they made it a ruin.
