¹² As Elisha watched, he kept crying out, “My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!”^(A) Then he never saw Elijah again. He took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces.^(B)

²¹ When the king of Israel saw them, he said to Elisha, “My father,^(A) should I kill them? I will kill them.”

¹⁴ When Elisha became sick with the illness that he died from, Jehoash king of Israel went down and wept over him and said, “My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!”^(A)
