²¹ Now behold, you have ^[a](A)relied on the ^[b]support of this broken reed, on Egypt; on which if a man leans, it will go into his ^[c]hand and pierce it. That is how Pharaoh king of Egypt is to all who rely on him.

⁶ Behold, you have relied on the ^(A)staff of this broken reed, on Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his ^[a]hand and pierce it. ^(B)So is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who rely on him.

¹⁵ But ^[a]he ^(A)revolted against ^[b]him by sending his messengers to Egypt so that they might give him horses and many ^[c]troops. Will he succeed? Will he who does these things ^(B)escape? Can he indeed break the covenant and escape? ¹⁶ As I live,’ declares the Lord God, ‘In the ^[d]country of the king who ^[e]put him on the throne, whose oath he ^(C)despised and whose covenant he broke, ^[f](D)in Babylon he shall certainly die. ^17 (E)Pharaoh with his mighty army and great contingent will not ^[g]help him in the war, when they pile up assault ramps and build siege walls to eliminate many lives.
