“The zeal^(C) of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

⁵ So too, at the present time there is a remnant^(A) chosen by grace.^(B)

²⁷ Isaiah cries out concerning Israel:

¹⁷ His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”^[a](A)

¹⁴ Then the angel who was speaking to me said, “Proclaim this word: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘I am very jealous^(A) for Jerusalem and Zion,

⁹ But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt.^(A) I did it to keep my name from being profaned^(B) in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites.

¹³ “Then my anger will cease and my wrath^(A) against them will subside, and I will be avenged.^(B) And when I have spent my wrath on them, they will know that I the Lord have spoken in my zeal.^(C)

¹⁴ None of the remnant of Judah who have gone to live in Egypt will escape or survive to return to the land of Judah, to which they long to return and live; none will return except a few fugitives.”^(A)
