²³ until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, ^(A)as he had spoken by all his servants the prophets. ^(B)So Israel was exiled from their own land to Assyria until this day.

The Fall of Israel

⁶ In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria ^(A)captured Samaria, ^(B)and he carried the Israelites away to Assyria ^(C)and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of ^(D)Gozan, and in the cities of ^(E)the Medes.

¹³ Yet the Lord ^(A)warned Israel and Judah ^(B)by every prophet ^(C)and every seer, saying, ^(D)“Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

^27 (A)and I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the Lord, whose name is ^(B)the God of hosts.

¹¹ The king of Assyria carried the Israelites away to Assyria and put them in ^(A)Halah, and on the ^(B)Habor, ^(C)the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, ¹² because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor obeyed.

²⁰ And the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel and afflicted them ^(A)and gave them into the hand of plunderers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

¹⁸ Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. None was left but ^(A)the tribe of Judah only.

¹⁶ And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he sinned and made Israel to sin.”

⁴ And the Lord said to him, “Call his name Jezreel, for in just a little while ^(A)I will punish the house of Jehu for the blood of Jezreel, and ^(B)I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. ⁵ And on that day ^(C)I will break the bow of Israel ^(D)in the Valley of Jezreel.”
