¹⁹ He took with him the commanders of hundreds, the Carites,^(A) the guards and all the people of the land, and together they brought the king down from the temple of the Lord and went into the palace, entering by way of the gate of the guards. The king then took his place on the royal throne.

The Sheep and the Goats

³¹ “When the Son of Man comes^(A) in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne.^(B)

²⁸ Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne,^(A) you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.^(B)

⁴ For if you are careful to carry out these commands, then kings^(A) who sit on David’s throne will come through the gates of this palace, riding in chariots and on horses, accompanied by their officials and their people.

²⁵ then kings who sit on David’s throne^(A) will come through the gates of this city with their officials. They and their officials will come riding in chariots and on horses, accompanied by the men of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, and this city will be inhabited forever.^(B)

¹⁹ He also stationed gatekeepers^(A) at the gates of the Lord’s temple so that no one who was in any way unclean might enter.

⁵ a third of you at the royal palace and a third at the Foundation Gate, and all the others are to be in the courtyards of the temple of the Lord.

²³ So Solomon sat^(A) on the throne^(B) of the Lord as king in place of his father David. He prospered and all Israel obeyed him.

⁴ In the seventh year Jehoiada sent for the commanders of units of a hundred, the Carites^(A) and the guards and had them brought to him at the temple of the Lord. He made a covenant with them and put them under oath at the temple of the Lord. Then he showed them the king’s son. ⁵ He commanded them, saying, “This is what you are to do: You who are in the three companies that are going on duty on the Sabbath^(B)—a third of you guarding the royal palace,^{(C) 6} a third at the Sur Gate, and a third at the gate behind the guard, who take turns guarding the temple—
