4 For the weapons of our warfare are not fleshly[a], but powerful in[b] God for the tearing-down of fortresses. We are tearing-down[c] considerations[d] 5 and every height[e] being raised-up against the knowledge of God, and taking-captive every thought[f] to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish[g] all disobedience[h], when your obedience is fulfilled[i].

- 2 Corinthians 10:4 That is, pertaining to the flesh, physical.
- 2 Corinthians 10:4 Or, for God; or, by God, that is, divinely powerful.
- 2 Corinthians 10:4 tearing down... punish (v 6). Warfare against a rebellious city in that day consisted of tearing down walls and defenses, then taking the people captive, then punishing the offenders. This is the metaphor here.
