¹⁰ He has delivered us from such a deadly peril,^(A) and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope^(B) that he will continue to deliver us, ¹¹ as you help us by your prayers.^(C) Then many will give thanks^(D) on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

Paul’s Change of Plans

¹² Now this is our boast: Our conscience^(E) testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity^[a](F) and godly sincerity.^(G) We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom^(H) but on God’s grace.

¹⁷ The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life^(A)—only to take it up again. ¹⁸ No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.^(B) I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”^(C)

⁶ For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”^[a](A) made his light shine in our hearts^(B) to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.^(C)

¹¹ And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead^(A) is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies^(B) because of^[a] his Spirit who lives in you.
