2 Chronicles 32:3-5

3 he decided with his officers and his warriors to cut off the supply of water from the springs which were outside the city, and they helped him. 4 So many people assembled (A)and stopped up all the springs and (B)the stream which flowed [a]through the region, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come and find abundant water?” 5 And he resolutely set to work and (C)rebuilt all of the wall that had been broken down and [b]erected towers on it, and built (D)another outside wall and strengthened the [c](E)Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in great numbers.

New International Version
3 he consulted with his officials and military staff about blocking off the water from the springs outside the city, and they helped him. 4 They gathered a large group of people who blocked all the springs(A) and the stream that flowed through the land. “Why should the kings[a] of Assyria come and find plenty of water?” they said. 5 Then he worked hard repairing all the broken sections of the wall(B) and building towers on it. He built another wall outside that one and reinforced the terraces[b](C) of the City of David. He also made large numbers of weapons(D) and shields.
