Fire from Heaven

7 ^(A)As soon as Solomon finished his prayer, ^(B)fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, ^(C)and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.

^38 (A)Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

²⁶ And David built there an altar to the Lord and presented burnt offerings and peace offerings and called on the Lord, and the Lord^{[a] (A)}answered him with fire from heaven upon the altar of burnt offering.

²³ And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and when they came out they blessed the people, and ^(A)the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. ²⁴ And ^(B)fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the pieces of fat on the altar, and when all the people saw it, ^(C)they shouted and ^(D)fell on their faces.

²⁴ And you call upon the name of your god, and I will call upon the name of the Lord, and the God who ^(A)answers by fire, he is God.” And all the people answered, “It is well spoken.”

3 ^(A)“Behold, I send ^(B)my messenger, and ^(C)he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord ^(D)whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and ^(E)the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. ² But ^(F)who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For ^(G)he is like a refiner's fire and like fullers' soap.

⁴ Then he brought me by way of ^(A)the north gate to the front of the temple, and I looked, and behold, ^(B)the glory of the Lord filled the temple of the Lord. And ^(C)I fell on my face.

^5 (A)the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into ^(B)the inner court; and behold, ^(C)the glory of the Lord filled the temple.

¹⁷ When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces.
