^6 (A)And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for ^(B)the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.

Jehoshaphat Allies with Ahab

18 Now Jehoshaphat ^(A)had great riches and honor, ^(B)and he made a marriage alliance with Ahab.

¹⁸ And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for ^(A)the daughter of Ahab was his wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.

²⁸ So the king took counsel and ^(A)made two calves of gold. And he said to the people, “You have gone up to Jerusalem long enough. ^(B)Behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.” ²⁹ And he set one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan. ³⁰ Then ^(C)this thing became a sin, for the people went as far as Dan to be before one.^[a]

^25 (A)And I confronted them and cursed them and beat some of them and pulled out their hair. ^(B)And I made them take an oath in the name of God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves. ^26 (C)Did not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? ^(D)Among the many nations there was no king like him, and he was ^(E)beloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women made even him to sin.

² Ahaziah was twenty-two^[a] years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah, ^(A)the granddaughter of Omri.

^25 (A)Omri did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and did more evil ^(B)than all who were before him. ²⁶ For ^(C)he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in the sins that he made Israel to sin, ^(D)provoking the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger by their idols. ²⁷ Now the rest of the acts of Omri that he did, and the might that he showed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? ²⁸ And Omri slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria, and Ahab his son reigned in his place.

Ahab Reigns in Israel

²⁹ In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab the son of Omri began to reign over Israel, and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years. ³⁰ And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, ^(E)more than all who were before him. ³¹ And as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, ^(F)he took for his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the ^(G)Sidonians, ^(H)and went and served Baal and worshiped him. ³² He erected an altar for Baal in ^(I)the house of Baal, which he built in Samaria. ³³ And Ahab made an ^(J)Asherah. Ahab did more to provoke the Lord, the God of Israel, to anger ^(K)than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
