^19 (A)So Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day.

⁷ Since the days of our fathers to this day ^(A)we have been very guilty, and for our iniquities ^(B)we, our kings, and our priests have been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the ^(C)sword, to captivity, to plunder, and to ^(D)humiliation,^[a] as it is this day.

⁵ Should you not know that the Lord God of Israel ^(A)gave the dominion over Israel to David forever, to him and his sons, ^(B)by a covenant of salt? ⁶ Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up and ^(C)rebelled against his lord. ⁷ Then ^(D)worthless rogues gathered to him, and strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was ^(E)young and inexperienced and could not withstand them.

¹⁶ Now when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying:

So all Israel departed to their tents.

⁹ The poles extended so that the ends of the ^(A)poles of the ark could be seen from the holy place, in front of the inner sanctuary; but they could not be seen from outside. And ^[a]they are there to this day.

²¹ For ^(A)He tore Israel from the house of David, and ^(B)they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. Then Jeroboam drove Israel from following the Lord, and made them commit a great sin. ²² For the children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they did not depart from them, ²³ until the Lord removed Israel out of His sight, ^(C)as He had said by all His servants the prophets. ^(D)So Israel was carried away from their own land to Assyria, as it is to this day.

¹⁹ So ^(A)Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day.

²⁰ Now it came to pass when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come back, they sent for him and called him to the congregation, and made him king over all ^(B)Israel. There was none who followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah ^(C)only.

⁹ Then Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of the Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests who bore the ark of the covenant stood; and they are there to this day.
