34 In die tijd herbouwde Hiël uit Bet-El de stad Jericho. Toen hij de muren bouwde, kostte dat zijn oudste zoon Abiram het leven. En toen hij de poortdeuren inzette, kostte dat zijn jongste zoon Segub het leven. Zo werd werkelijkheid wat de Heer vroeger door Jozua had gezegd.[a]
