⁶ Now godliness with ^(A)contentment is great gain. ⁷ For we brought nothing into this world, ^[a]and it is ^(B)certain we can carry nothing out. ⁸ And having food and clothing, with these we shall be ^(C)content.

^4 (A)Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

⁵ Let your ^[a]gentleness be known to all men. ^(B)The Lord is at hand.

^6 (C)Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with ^(D)thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; ⁷ and ^(E)the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Meditate on These Things

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are ^(F)true, whatever things are ^(G)noble, whatever things are ^(H)just, ^(I)whatever things are pure, whatever things are ^(J)lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

⁵ Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ^(A)“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ⁶ So we may boldly say:
