A Good Minister’s Discipline

⁶ In pointing out these things to ^(A)the brothers and sisters, you will be a good ^(B)servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the words of the faith and of the ^(C)good doctrine which you ^(D)have been following.

³ If anyone ^(A)advocates a different doctrine and does not ^[a]agree with ^(B)sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine ^(C)conforming to godliness, ⁴ he is ^(D)conceited and understands nothing; but he ^[b]has a sick craving for ^(E)controversial questions and ^(F)disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, ⁵ and constant friction between ^(G)people of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who ^(H)suppose that ^[c]godliness is a means of gain.

¹⁵ Be diligent to ^(A)present yourself approved to God as a worker who ^[a]does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling ^(B)the word of truth.

³ For ^(A)the time will come when they will not tolerate ^(B)sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires, ⁴ and they ^(C)will turn their ears away from the truth and ^(D)will turn aside to myths.

^9 (A)holding firmly the faithful word which is in accordance with the teaching, so that he will be able both to ^[a]exhort in ^(B)sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict it.

Proclaim Sound Doctrine

2 But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for ^(A)sound doctrine.
