⁹ I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,^{(A) 10} but with good deeds,^(B) appropriate for women who profess to worship God.

¹¹ A woman^[a] should learn in quietness and full submission.^{(C) 12} I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;^[b] she must be quiet.^{(D) 13} For Adam was formed first, then Eve.^{(E) 14} And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.^(F)

On Covering the Head in Worship

² I praise you^(A) for remembering me in everything^(B) and for holding to the traditions just as I passed them on to you.^{(C) 3} But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ,^(D) and the head of the woman is man,^[a](E) and the head of Christ is God.^{(F) 4} Every man who prays or prophesies^(G) with his head covered dishonors his head. ⁵ But every woman who prays or prophesies^(H) with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is the same as having her head shaved.^(I)

Good Order in Worship

²⁶ What then shall we say, brothers and sisters?^(A) When you come together, each of you^(B) has a hymn,^(C) or a word of instruction,^(D) a revelation, a tongue^(E) or an interpretation.^(F) Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.^(G)
