³ This is good, and ^(A)it is pleasing in the sight of ^(B)God our Savior, ⁴ who desires ^(C)all people to be saved and ^(D)to come to ^(E)the knowledge of the truth.

^9 (A)The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise ^(B)as some count slowness, but ^(C)is patient toward you,^{[a] (D)}not wishing that any should perish, but ^(E)that all should reach repentance.

^23 (A)Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord God, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?

¹⁶ Simon Peter replied, ^(A)“You are ^(B)the Christ, ^(C)the Son of ^(D)the living God.” ¹⁷ And Jesus answered him, ^(E)“Blessed are you, ^(F)Simon Bar-Jonah! For ^(G)flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, ^(H)but my Father who is in heaven. ¹⁸ And I tell you, ^(I)you are Peter, and ^(J)on this rock^[a] I will build my church, and ^(K)the gates of ^(L)hell^[b] shall not prevail against it.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and said to them, ^(A)“All authority ^(B)in heaven and on earth has been given to me. ^19 (C)Go therefore and ^(D)make disciples of ^(E)all nations, ^(F)baptizing them ^(G)in^{[a] (H)}the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, ²⁰ teaching them ^(I)to observe all that ^(J)I have commanded you. And behold, ^(K)I am with you always, to ^(L)the end of the age.”

¹⁵ And he said to them, ^(A)“Go into all the world and ^(B)proclaim the gospel to ^(C)the whole creation.

²¹ Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As ^(A)the Father has sent me, ^(B)even so I am sending you.”

⁸ But you will receive ^(A)power ^(B)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and ^(C)you will be ^(D)my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and ^(E)Samaria, and ^(F)to the end of the earth.”

¹³ For ^(A)“everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

¹⁴ How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him ^(B)of whom they have never heard?^[a] And how are they to hear ^(C)without someone preaching? ¹⁵ And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ^(D)“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” ¹⁶ But ^(E)they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, ^(F)“Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?” ¹⁷ So ^(G)faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
