⁸ But since we belong to the day, we must be serious^(A) and put the armor^(B) of faith and love on our chests, and put on a helmet^(C) of the hope of salvation. ⁹ For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord^(D) Jesus Christ,^{(E) 10} who died for us,^(F) so that whether we are awake or asleep,^(G) we will live together with Him.^(H)
