⁷ But the Lord told him, “Listen to the people and everything they say to you. They have not rejected you; they have rejected me as their king.^(A)

¹⁶ Whoever listens to you listens to me.^(A) Whoever rejects you rejects me.^(B) And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me.”^(C)

² So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves.
