1 Samuel 5:9-11

9 After they had moved it, the Lord’s hand was against the city of Gath,(A) causing a great panic. He afflicted the people of the city, from the youngest to the oldest, with an outbreak of tumors.(B)
10 The people of Gath then sent the ark of God to Ekron, but when it got there, the Ekronites cried out, “They’ve moved the ark of Israel’s God to us to kill us and our people!” [a]
11 The Ekronites called all the Philistine rulers together.(C) They said, “Send the ark of Israel’s God away. Let it return to its place so it won’t kill us and our people!” [b] For the fear of death pervaded the city; God’s hand was oppressing them.(D)

9 So it was, after they had carried it away, that (A)the hand of the Lord was against the city with a very great destruction; and He struck the men of the city, both small and great, [a]and tumors broke out on them.
10 Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. So it was, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people!” 11 So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go back to its own place, so that it does not kill us and our people.” For there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.

10 Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people.
11 So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.
