⁴ The ^(A)ropes of death encompassed me,
And the ^(B)torrents of ^[a]destruction ^[b]terrified me.
⁵ The ^(C)ropes of ^[c]Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.
⁶ In my ^(D)distress I called upon the Lord,
And cried to my God for help;
He heard my voice ^(E)from His temple,
And my ^(F)cry for help before Him came into His ears.

²⁴ For He has ^(A)not despised nor scorned the suffering of the afflicted;
Nor has He ^(B)hidden His face from him;
But ^(C)when he cried to Him for help, He heard.
